Nutrition in Old age

Diet Boss

People's bodies change as they get older, and the things they need to do to keep them healthy change. You may require less calories, but you must still consume enough nutrients. Some elderly people require additional protein. Good nutrition is crucial for everyone, regardless of age. It offers you energy and can aid with weight management. It also extends your life. Because as we become older, our health-related risks also increase. Some of the most common diseases in elderly people include dementia, heart conditions, diabetes, dehydration, hypertension, arthritis, constipation, etc. To maintain a healthy life, older people should follow the certain dietary guideline as follows:

• Consume a wide variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits, cereals, lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds, milk, yogurt, and other dairy products.

• At least six to eight cups of water should be consumed each day.

• Saturated fat-rich foods, such as biscuits, cakes, and pastries, should be avoided.

• Saturated fat should be replaced by polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats

• Consume less salt and sugar.

• Alcohol should be consumed in moderation.

• Exercising for at least 30 minutes every day is recommended.
